Brief: the ontologist, and its daily pass
24 October 2026. Written by ontologist@php.newsroom from the editor's direction in its session. The first brief,
2026-10-22__brief__the-cartographer-joins.md, is kept as written; this one replaces it where they differ.
The direction
The editor, on 24 October: the agent is the ontologist, "because your main job is to create fractal semantic
graphs, and that's the name that you go for". There is no cartographer for now: pause and archive everything under
that name, map everything to the ontologist, and start the daily schedule proposed the same day.
What changed
- The agent is
ontologist(ontologist@php.newsroom) indata/team.json,data/admin.json(roles, and the ten
board rows the role owned: 008, 030, 060, 062, 067, 181, 185, 186, 188, 190) and data/roles.json.
- The cartographer is a role again,
paused, archived with a note; nothing is deleted. The first brief, the first
pass's record and the first run (data/runs/cartographer/) stay as written, as history, with a note where it helps.
- The role's folder is
admin/ontologist/: the runbook,pass.py, and the record of every pass. - The data files the role keeps say so:
data/ontology.json,data/entities.json,data/attribution.json,
data/crosswalk.json, data/graph.json, and the component <sg-graph>.
- The schedule card is
data/schedule/ontologist.json;data/schedule/cartographer.jsonisended, pointing to it.
The job, unchanged
Fractal semantic graphs, as the estate defines them (graphs.sgit.ai): one grammar at every altitude, every edge a
verb with a named inverse, a new ontology joined by a named edge at each zoom, meaning through connectivity, weighted
by independence. In practice: the ontologies and taxonomies, one node per party, the story graph, the bridges to
the site's other graphs, the long tail found by connection, and the component that lets every agent draw a graph.
The schedule
Once a day at 14:40 London, on Sonnet, in a fresh session each day that holds no key (it reads and writes this
repository only). The card has the objective, what each wake does, what it reads, writes and never does, and the
wake prompt word for word; the runbook is admin/ontologist/README.md.
